2/4/25 Session 2
Gris – Day 1
- Left the safety of the stronghold
- Avoided a birthing manticore and its territorial mate, while hiking out of the foothills
- Forded a river, almost losing my short bow in the process, I successfully retrieved it but lost a bunch of arrows and got completely soaked in the panic
- Got stuck on the plains in a downpour, unable to keep going
- Spotted a gryphon flying in the distance, stayed still to avoid detection but the stress of holding still for hours in the rain and mud took its toll
- I decided to resume traveling as the sun began to set. I hadn’t seen the gryphon in a while and had hopefully deduced the correct direction of its nest and scouted the fasted way out of its territory. But unsure whether the gryphon could see me, I decided not to light a torch; the moonlight proved insufficient. I tripped and stumbled often, and despite the pleasant temperatures I began to shiver uncontrollably. The wet from the river and rain, and the darkness set upon me a cold I could not shake
- By the blessings of “” I reached a dilapidated shack at the edge of the ruins and managed to make camp, breaking my flint & starter as I struggled.
- The night passed in a haze; my mind wandered while my body shivered by the fire.
- By dawn I was warm enough to sleep soundly, though in the morning light I think I saw a body hanging from a large tree in the distance . . . but I am too tired, I will investigate when I am rested.
Thoughts:
Adventuring alone in the forbidden lands is dangerous! I knew that going in but geez, rolls were not going my way trying to hide from the gryphon, for a minute there I thought I was going to have fight it, and if that went bad I was already thinking about how to have a companion show up and help her; on day 1!
This was my first time journeying, and I know the sessions will go faster as I learn the rules better, but man that took a long time to play out one day in game lol
